Why we make this guide
Planning a simple outing can mean opening too many tabs just to check the price, age fit, bathrooms, parking, and whether you need a reservation. We pull those details together so another family can decide quickly and head out.
How we check a recommendation
Ben researches and edits the guides using official or first-party sources. Our child helps us notice the practical parts of an outing that a venue page may not explain. We share what helps parents plan without publishing personal details about our child.
How facts make it into a guide
We start with the place or organizer’s official page and keep that source beside the guide. Hours, admission, registration rules, age limits, and closure notices are treated as facts only when a first-party source supports them. When a detail cannot be confirmed, we say that plainly instead of filling the gap. Visual parking estimates are labeled as estimates, never official capacity counts, and every family should check the linked source on the day of a visit.
What we review before publishing
Before a page goes live, we check whether the place is in Northern Virginia, whether children can actually use the activity, and whether the official source supports the date, price, age range, and visit rules. Dated events are removed after they end. Standing place pages remain useful and are updated when a source changes. We do not turn ordinary library opening hours into an event, and we do not publish last year’s schedule as a current plan.
What our family perspective adds
The family perspective shapes the questions, not the facts. We organize outings around real parent decisions: whether a toddler can move, whether an infant plan is easy to leave, what an older child can actively do, and what backup works if weather or energy changes. Those are planning judgments, not promises that every child will have the same experience.
