Farm outing guide
Farm outings range from a free animal visit to a full paid play day. The right choice depends on how long the family wants to stay, whether a toddler needs a stroller, and whether the children care more about animals or large play attractions.
Frying Pan Farm Park in Herndon is the easiest repeat farm visit. General admission is free, the animal areas are close to the visitor area, and bathrooms and parking are straightforward. Carousel rides, wagon rides, and some programs cost extra, but families can still have a complete visit without buying them.
Temple Hall Farm Regional Park in Leesburg combines animals, a nature trail, playground, hill slides, and jumping pillows. General visits are free from April through September. October requires a separate seasonal ticket, so it is important to check the official calendar before promising a pumpkin outing.
Great Country Farms in Bluemont charges $12 on weekdays and $14 on weekends, with children age two and under free. Admission covers a large farm play area, animals, wagon rides, slides, jumping pillows, obstacle courses, and seasonal picking. This is the choice when the family wants enough activity to justify the longer Loudoun drive.
Choose Frying Pan when cost and easy repetition matter most. Choose Temple Hall when Loudoun families want animals and play without the Great Country admission during the regular season. Choose Great Country when the plan is a longer destination day. For every farm, check weather, seasonal hours, stroller surfaces, food rules, and which attractions are actually included.
Frying Pan Farm Park is free for general visits. Temple Hall Farm is also free during its regular April through September season, while October activities require admission.
Frying Pan Farm Park is the easiest toddler choice because the visit can be short, free, and close to the bathrooms and parking.
Great Country Farms has the largest paid play setup in this guide, with animals, wagon rides, slides, jumping pillows, obstacle courses, and seasonal picking.
The listings note stroller access, but farm surfaces can still be uneven. A stroller with larger wheels is easier for longer trails and field areas.
